Introducing Hans
Hans
was born in Vienna/Austria. He completed his education with a Doktorandum
in Chemistry from the University of Vienna.
He
left Vienna in 1979 and spend 17 years in South Africa doing research in
metallurgical chemistry. He has published numerous papers on gold
cyanidation. He pioneered kinetic studies of adsorption of cyanide
complexes onto activated carbon using gold radiotracers. Later work
focused mainly on optimising the gold recovery during cyanidation.
He presented papers at various conferences in South Africa, Australia,
England, Canada and Chile.
Hans
got married in 1993 to Linda (born in Johannesburg/South Africa).
In January 1996 they
emigrated to New Zealand and in June 1996 their son Paul
was born.
After
a brief stint into management consultancy, Hans started his digital
imaging business, combining his love for photography with his computing
knowledge.
Interests
include, besides science, mathematics and photography:
- Music: organ, piano, classical guitar
- Art: pencil drawing
- Languages: German, French, Spanish, Japanese
- Sport: swimming, cycling, table tennis, gym
- Gardening
Hans
is currently studying towards a PhD in Philosophy (philosophy of science)
at Massey University (Palmerston North).
Hans
is currently also setting up a new company - Chemistry NZ Ltd.
Linda
has completed a diploma in Early Childhood Education in 2007 and extended
this into a Bachelor of Education Degree in 2008.
